A. General Overview
Following the awesome success of the "Aniboom Awards 2006", AniBOOM proudly presents its second thrilling and mightily entertaining contest: "AniBOOM Eyedoll", an online parody/satire competition based on the hit television series, “American Idol”.
You create the character (in 2D, 3D, Stop Action, anything… we're an equal opportunity satire). You can download the soundtrack from us (we've got 26 really funny song parodies to choose from) or create your own song parody. You download the set, logo and video intro from us, too. Then you create up to 60 seconds of your character singing his/her/its heart out for that chance at becoming the winner.
We'll be showing your entries right when the hysteria about "American Idol" is reaching fever pitch, and crowning our winners the very same night that "American Idol" chooses theirs. So it's going to be a great showcase for your work. And the prizes are absolutely astounding:
Your choice of either 1) An all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to meet your new Agent! That's right, win this and you'll be getting a contract with Endeavor or another Hollywood agency that’s placed animators at the top of the profession. OR, you may choose instead: 2) A Fully Financed Production Deal with AniBOOM! You bring your talent, we'll supply the budget and distribution for a new idea that we'll launch together as a Webseries and push as far and as fast up the Entertainment Industry ladder as we can.
It doesn’t get any better than this for quick turn-around animation competitions. So what are you waiting for? Register now!
B. Competition Rules
The Aniboom Eyedoll ground rules are as follows:
1. You create a short animated parody of the “American Idol” contestants.
2. The animation should be up to one minute total in length.
3. You can use either parodies of familiar songs or your own original soundtrack. In any event, you may not use copyrighted material without making a parody out of it. The more drastic the changes, the better the parody.
4. If you wish, you may download any of the 26 song parodies we’ve supplied for you. You can use them as they are or change them any way you like.
5. If you’d rather create your own song track, that’s fine. Don't worry about the song production being professional, it’s more important for the clip to be funny. (You can even record yourself singing off key with a simple computer microphone; don't be scared to be silly, that's the whole point.)
6. You must use the Aniboom Eyedoll Video Intro clip and stage background for your animation. The stage background files are available in several different formats (flash, 3D texture, 2D background images). You may add props or elements to the set, however, these elements may only be in addition to the set and may not replace it.
7. If your technique (stop motion, for example) does not mesh well with the existing stage, you may recreate the stage from scratch but it must appear similar to our design and must include the Aniboom Eyedoll logo.
8. We are also supplying an “AniBOOM” watermark logo - you know, the kind of thing TV channels stick in the corner of the screen.
9. Although shots of the audience may be included, please do not show representations of the judges or the host in your film.
C. Competition Stages: Phases A-B
Phase A: January 30th. Animators may begin submitting their AniBOOM Eyedoll animations. By no later than March 15 audiences will be able to view the AniBOOM Eyedoll creations and begin rating them.
Phase B: May 22nd. The highest ranking animation is announced as the Aniboom Eyedoll grand winner.
D. Prizes
1. Well, after all this is a parody talent show, so logically we'd want to make the winner outrageously famous. We know that some animators dream of becoming filmmakers and others wish to become leading animators in the crème de la crème of animation studios. So we thought about it and decided that the winner will be able to choose either of the following prizes:
a. A contract with Endeavor or another Hollywood agency that places animators at the top of the profession in studios such as Pixar and Dreamworks. The winner also receives an all expenses paid trip to L.A. to meet with his/her agent.
b. A development deal with AniBoom to create a new one-off or a series. AniBOOM will supply the budget, the creative alliances, and the distribution. You’ll partner with AniBOOM as your show gets pushed as far and as fast up the Entertainment Industry ladder as possible.
