I think the software used was anime studio.

Absolutely right, all animation was done in Anime Studio, backgrounds were outlined in AS and colored in Photoshop- Sorry I haven't replied to all of the comments here, just wanted to hang low, but now since the "rating/view" period of the contest is theoretically over, I'll be happy to chime in-
