all it said was to remake the "pinball count song" and since the song doesn't mention pinballs...I don't see the point in remaking the same idea.

I like the completely flat sequences, more than the 3D with 2D look ones. A paper cut look would work awesome with the same concept, designs, and direction. Also, wasn't that music supposed to be still with the actual pinball theme, rather than a new theme?
