How does it work?
There are two categories this year in which you can win: Judges and Community. The Judges category is pretty straightforward. aniBoom selected a team of industry professionals to assess the films and select the three they think are the very best. Judges this year include such influential people as Yair Landau, the former President of Sony Pictures Animation, and Barbara Corday, the former President of Columbia Pictures.

For the Community Prize we're looking at how much other people appear to be enjoying your film. We narrowed down our determining factors to three aspects: Views, Virality and Votes.

With Views, we want to see not only how many people have watched your animated movie, but also how much of it they watched. Let's say someone started to watch it, but 4 seconds in, they were bored and clicked away. We would deduct points from the ranking for that. Conversely, they LOVED your movie and watched the entire thing including the ending credits? You get extra points for that.

What is Virality? Virality is the phenomenon that describes videos that end up getting sent to everyone's email and posted all over the Internet. Examples of a viral video include YouTube hits "Dramatic Gopher" and "Sneezing Panda" (You've gotta love "Dramatic Gopher". Personally I've seen every version there is!). We're looking to see how many times your movie has been emailed to someone or embedded on a website. This is something you can directly control, by encouraging your friends to send your video to people they know, asking them to embed your movie on their blogs/MySpace pages and just generally promote your movie around the Web.

Votes. Voting is pretty simple. Registered aniBoom members watch a movie and then assign "bombs" ranging from one bomb = crap to five bombs = great, to each movie on its player page.
