His Very Own Animated Series
Most animators dream of the opportunity to see their own vision realized. Slaving away at production studios, oftentimes creating commercial work when they’d rather be doing something creative, they can only hope for their big break. And that day has come for
Joaquin Baldwin.
Joaquin beat out 1293 other animation entries competing for the Grand Prize to be named the overall winner in both categories of the
3rd annual aniBoom Awards. His film “
Sebastian's Voodoo” was favored highly by both the community and our
judges panel. This is no small honor as the judge’s panel included such influential people in the industry as Yair Landau, the founder of Sony Animated Features and John Mass of the William Morris Agency – one of the largest and most respected talent agencies in the world.
Now he’ll be working together with the
aniBoom Creators Studio, aniBoom’s virtual animation production studio, to produce his very own animated series for distribution. This is Joaquin’s chance to finally work on his own idea, with $25,000 worth of cash going towards the project.
Winning is just the beginning for the winners of this year’s awards. Previous winners have gone on to do amazing things including creating
commercials for Coca Cola’s Olympics campaign and videos for prominent music groups.
For the third year in a row, we offered
$50,000 worth of cash and prizes to some of the most talented people in the animation industry. However, this year we upped the ante and added not only prizes for the top 3 but an exciting selection of
Toon Boom software, CG Society literature and Stash Magazine to a total of
50 top ranking films. Plus, this year, with the community prize category, creators were rewarded for their promotion efforts. A riveting race ensued with videos ranked not only according to view and votes but virality as well. Entrants and viewers could keep track of the competition’s progress by watching our continually updating “Top 10”.
It was a crazy road, but Joaquin triumphed, for his originality, creativity and skill.
